Adults 65 and older are more vulnerable to heat stress. Follow these key tips to avoid heat illness:

  1. Have an extreme heat plan – watch your weather forecasts and heat advisories. Drink plenty of water throughout the day and wear light, loose clothing.
  2. Know the signs – heat exhaustion includes sweating, weakness, nausea, and headache. If you are suffering from heat stroke, seek medical attention immediately.
